The time to prepare for the future is now. Even if you never left your home, the transportation system is important to you. It’s how you get mail, have your trash picked up, how fire and police reach you in an emergency, and even how you get your utilities that may run under the road. If you leave your home, roads and sidewalks get you where you are going and the quality of your roads and sidewalks impact your safety.
To keep the County we love in good condition, it requires that we invest the necessary time and resources to review and update the future transportation needs of the region. The Plan examines not only transportation needs and solutions but also related issues such as land use, the environment, air quality, energy, walking and biking, quality of life, funding, and other issues.
This process will determine what we can afford, and how projects will be prioritized for implementation. It turns your priorities into your transportation projects. For example, the last MTCP in 2011 led to new roads, better roads, and more funding through the Pikes Peak Regional Transportation Authority and preserving land for future roads in anticipation of development.
As a valued member of the community, your input is important. This planning process provides you with several opportunities to contribute to the MTCP update so that the resulting policies and projects are reflective of the community’s needs and desires.
